Rome expanded by being on the Itailan peninsula. A peninsula is a land that is covered by water on three sides. Rome had also been repersented by Latins and then they become a repubic. Rome joined an alliance with its Latin neighbors. While they created a military and morale and strengthened Rome as a military power.Along with the military they had them pay to be in it and that gave them more money to have and spend for important items that they need. They went in the pax romana for 200 years of expansion. Rome expanded up to 2 million square miles. Rome was a pennisula so they could get around easy. So rome could take over many places and thats how they expanded.
